DEAR PARENTS,

Congratulations on being a high school senior parent! This is such a memorable time in your son or daughter’s life, and I am super honored that you are considering me to capture it! I hope you have found this website to be informative regarding whole the whole senior portrait session works.

I would love to share with you a little about me, so you can have an idea of who you might be working with! In 2003, I graduated with a degree in Mathematics Secondary Education from Iowa State University. I also ended up meeting my future husband while I was there. After graduating with a B.S. in Mathematics and Education, getting married, then moving to Minnesota, my first career was teaching math at various community colleges. An entrepreneur at heart, I also started a math tutoring business in the Eagan area working with many high school students similar to your son or daughter. Whether it was tutoring ACT-prep and Calculus, or even volunteering at church youth groups, I have always loved working with teenagers!

Along the way, I had my first baby, a girl! I picked up a camera to take pictures of my adorable baby, and completely fell in love with photography. I found myself photographing anyone and everyone that would stand in front of my camera! To say that I found my passion is a complete understatement. Needless to say, as my skills (and equipment $$$) progressed, in 2009 I decided to make a huge career change and started Photography by Nealy – and it was one of the best decisions of my life!

As a mother of four now, I realize a few things as a parent. First, life moves WAY too fast – my oldest daugther is now 10 years old, plus I have three other little ones (ages 8, 6, and 4) and the years are somehow flying by. Second, I realize that everyone needs a positive role model to look up to, especially teenagers. While I would never claim to be perfect, I do strive to be a good example for these wonderful seniors, this is the WHY I do what I do. And third, I think it is so awesome that so many of my senior’s parents are involved in the senior portrait process– that is why I love to end each session with “mom-senior” or “dad-senior” pictures. Parents are such an essential part of this milestone.

Thank you again for taking the time to read this, and for considering working with me. I absolutely love what I do,  I can’t wait to work with you and your senior!

Sincerely,
